September TWRC Agenda Set for Jackson Meeting

NASHVILLE --- The agenda has been established for the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission’s September meeting to be held in Jackson at Premier Place Catering on Sept 15-16.

Among this month’s topics will be a statewide non-protected wildlife proclamation to clarify the definition of a wild appearing hog. The Department of Agriculture provided an emergency rule though the state veterinarian that has incorporated a definition of feral/wild/wild-appearing hogs that made identification easier.

A summary of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s Dove Field Lease Program will be presented. The report includes information on the number of leases provided, total acreage under lease and the hunting success of the releases.

The Fisheries Management Committee asked TWRA Fisheries Division personnel to recommend a proposed guide license, both resident and non-resident, along with any qualifications or restrictions that may be necessary. Also, the update will include a projected cost of managing the program and the projected revenue.

The recommendation made earlier was to consider a guide license for the following waters: The rivers immediately below Wilbur, Watauga, South Holston, Cherokee, Norris, Appalachian, Tim’s Ford, Dale Hollow and Normandy dams.

The commission will be updated on the results of the Commercial Fishing Advisory (CFAC) meeting held in Nashville on Aug. 31.

The meeting will be held at Premier Place Catering in the northern area of Jackson.

Committee meetings will begin at 1 p.m. on Sept. 15 and the formal TWRC meeting will start at 9 a.m. on Sept. 16. The public is invited to attend.
